Assistant Store Manager Trainee
Department: Store Management
Duties and Functions: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maximize sales in the Perishable Departments, through the deparatment managers, by maintaining superior store conditions, competitive awareness, implementation and maintenance of applicable sales/merchandising programs, effective ordering, shelf management and monitoring of Direct Store Deliveries (DSDs).
2. Control Perishable Department labor dollars, through the Department Managers, by ensuring effective scheduling and the maintenance of performance standards and crew complements.
3. Control Perishable shrink/gross profit, through the Department Managers, by ensuring proper product handling (i.e. rotation, coding, refrigeration, damage control, etc.), product receiving, pricing integrity and product ordering. Adhere to the Company shrink control, gross profit enhancement and inventory control programs.
4. Ensure clean, orderly, appealing and hazard free sales and storage areas in each department by adhering to the Companys safety, sanitation and merchandising policies and procedures.
5. Maintain a safe environment for all customers and Associates.
6. Ensure total store compliance with policies, procedures and laws as required by: Federal, State or Municipal Law (i.e. Weights and Measures, Health Department, OSHA, Human Rights, Consumer Protection, Wage and Hours, etc.).
7. Ensure full compliance with all Food Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
8. Ensure full compliance with Company procedures (i.e. Standard Operating Procedure Manual (S.O.P.) and Standards of Operation Manual)
9. Cultivate and maintain superior customer relations through polite and efficient handling of customer inquiries and complaints, attention to Associate appearance and behavior and maintaining service level standards.
10. Foster harmonious Associate relations in the Perishable Departments and Total Store through active listening to Associate concerns, as well as overseeing and participating in Associate selection, orientation, training/development, performance appraisal, counseling, recognition programs, service awards, etc.
11. Perform total store management responsibilities as required
Job Requirements: POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: To perform at a proficient level and be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have: 1. Education (Minimum Needed): High school diploma, some college helpful 2. Experience (Minimum Needed): Previous grocery management experience in the following areas preferred: Service, Grocery, Perishable Departments and Total Store Management 3. Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Merchandising techniques, total store product knowledge, Certified Food Safety Certification, Labor Controls, Federal, State and Municipal regulations and Human Resources.
4. Special Skills: Interpersonal Skills, Decision-Making, Delegation, Organization, Leadership, Coaching/Counseling, Conflict Management.
